Sterling Building Consultants is a company on the move, and the direction is upwards.  Geoff Cochrane and his partner Michelle Crowe have put together a highly skilled team to carry out the functions of their company.  With extensive experience and knowledge of the Building Code and Building Act 2004, the team specialises in pre-purchase property inspections, (including moisture testing), certificate of acceptance, earthquake prone building assessments, building consent management.  They are also committed, through their Architectural Design service, to produce visually attractive, innovative and well planned buildings that satisfy both the functional and economic needs of clients and users. A Sterling Building Consultant designed building is a valuable asset because they adopt a rigorous approach to long-term sustainability ensuring that the buildings they design are efficient in terms of energy and water consumption and are sufficiently flexible to be adapted for different future uses.

The newest member to join the team is Kevin Jenkins.  Apart from time out to study and to work overseas he has spent the greater part of his life in Whangarei since arriving with his family at the tender age of 3 months.  Away from the office he enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, who are both studying at University in Auckland.  A keen racing yachtsman he also enjoys the occasional game of golf and loves music of any sort.

Involved in the industry for over 30 years, Kevin has a history in architectural design, having worked in London for some years within large architectural practices.  On return to New Zealand he has worked as an architectural designer, and spent some time specialising in designing Mitek trusses and wall framing for a timber merchant. For the past ten years he has been in the building regulation area with the Whangarei District Council Building Compliance Department where he was mainly involved with processing plans along with some inspection work.

His recent move to Sterling Building Consultants has seen him back with his real passion, architectural design.  He is excited by the technology employed and finds the company friendly, innovative and focused.
