Let There Be Light -   Bright Ideas, Lighting DesignLet There Be Light -  Bright Ideas, Lighting Design

LED Lights are the lights of the future. Compared with a halogen lamp of the same light output, the LED is not only distinguished by significantly lower energy consumption, greater economic and luminous efficiency, but also by its exceptionally long service life. Their compact dimensions, impact and vibration resistance, low heat build-up and high quality of light make them predestined for virtually all areas demanding the use of innovative, energy and cost-efficient lighting technology.

LED technology has advanced extremely quickly over just the last few years, Superlux LED downlights utilise a reflector which gives a uniform and superior spread of light from the LED source, and does not have obvious demarcation rings in the light beam. Downlights are one of the most popular light fittings installed in NZ today.

The Hettich MAGIC LED range offers numerous attractive lighting solutions which, depending on task and choice, not only provide accent, night and orientation light, but also function light for all lighting tasks. You can create whatever mood you wish with this magic range of lights.

The difference between good and bad downlighting is light years apart. Lighting has a huge impact on how we live and feel within our environments and it’s as simple as choosing a downlight with the best light output characteristics and placing them to get maximum effect for your dollars spent. Choose a downlight which has been designed to get the maximum light output and suits the characteristics of light source e.g. Fluorescent, LED, Halogen or GLS bulbs. For example the Superlux SD125F provides a 100W or more equivalent of light output from only a 15Watt fluorescent energy saver bulb, where as a downlight which is not designed for this type of technology you would give you 60% less light for the same amount of energy spent.

Simply placing your downlights correctly can make all the difference and this doesn’t cost a cent extra, so take time to think about the correct placement for the downlight you are installing and if in doubt place it closer rather than further away from walls. Placing downlights close to walls ensures that light is reflected off them, this will create a bright, inviting space for occupants. Downlights with a tilt or gimble can give you even more control to direct light at walls or pictures etc and lighting effects such as scalloping can be very decorative.
