What a wild and wonderful weekend we have had. Saturday morning, after our usual weekly trip to the Farmer’s Market we headed for the Whangarei Food Show which was held at Forum North. It was great to see it back after the break the event’s organisers had last year. There was a good variation of tasty treats on offer and of course a range of bargains from all the exhibitors.

Can you believe that tomorrow it’s October already and the school holidays have started, but more importantly daylight saving began last weekend and we all know what that means….apart from BBQ’S we will be spending more time outdoors tending to the garden, the block or the livestock. Our rural pages will keep everyone well abreast of what is happening, what the best deals are regarding equipment or machinery necessary for a well maintained property and of course rural and lifestyle news in general.

Winter is now officially finished as of last Monday and we are heading for what I believe will be another cracker of a spring & summer in Northland. Weekends are spent cleaning up the outdoor areas and drawing up the designs for extended outdoor living spaces and newly planted garden beds.

Congratulations to all real estate agents who had open homes last weekend. Our feedback indicates that it was a very successful two days. PropertyPlus is now going into its fourth month and what an exciting time we’ve had. We have slap banged ourselves right into the middle of the worst recession that most of us have ever experienced, and now that we are told the end is in sight - of the recession that is ….roll on summer, let temperatures rise as well as the property market. Look to page 4 to read the latest REINZ residential statistics for the month of August and warm to the idea that property is still one of the most secure investments you can make.

This weekend I definitely got that feeling of “spring is in the air”, with our days getting longer and lighter it certainly gives you that buzz to want to get up and going with the planning of new projects – especially in and around the home. The buzz was certainly on at the Farmer’s market in Whangarei last Saturday. It was bustling with people and the choice of fresh produce was in abundance hence my fridge is stocked up for the week to come so no shortage of vitamins in our house. We need to keep the energy levels high since our work here at PropertyPlus is forever in a developing stage. No rest for the wicked applies here.

This week’s PropertyPlus celebrates its 7th publication and needless to say that we have been on a roller coaster ride to establish the PropertyPlus brand in our local market place. In that we feel – judging by the positive and constructive feedback from our readers – we have succeeded. Last week’s edition where we identified ourselves as 100% Locally Owned and Operated resulted in a very positive wave of response from our local readers and it is fabulous to hear that the Locally Owned and Operated factor is so near and dear to the hearts of our community.
