Crawling around in the muck to fiddle with pipes had never been a part of my life til I bought my own home. It’s not as if the councillors in charge of the city’s reticulated water, gas and power will ever get down in the dirt either (with the exception of Sir John Thorn, who was a plumber before becoming mayor of Port Chalmers).

Now more than ever with the high level of debt people are taking on, it’s important to make sure that you are also protected from the good, the bad and the ugly that can happen in life. A touchy subject, but I don’t want you to have money troubles and possibly lose your home if something bad was to happen. #NotOnMyWatch

NZ house prices: the latest
According to the folks at Quotable Value (QV), residential property prices in 2018 have, for the most part, continued their onward and upward trajectory – albeit more slowly. In the year to April, prices rose 7.6% to average $679,000. Houses in and around Auckland, which has led NZ gains for the past five years, were not so fortunate, with a 0.3% drop to $1.05m. Ouch!
